Cobra King Cobra SS hypersteel 15 degree 3 wood
Shaft:Cobra stiff flex
Looks:This is a major improvement on the tacky Gravity Back fairway woods from Cobra that this model replaces. These are among the best looking fairway woods around. The head is a mean and menacing black and is quite compact (read small if you are a high handicapper!) at address. There is a Cobra logo on the crown that serves as a useful alignment aid.The sole is curved and the clubhead sets up nice and square to the ball and plenty of loft is visible at address. The clubhead also feels quite heavy which is always a desirable characteristic in a fairway metal. The dark shaft and grip are a nice cosmetic match to the clubhead and the finished article oozes class.
Marks:(out of 10) 9
Performance:The powerful set up of this club behind the ball cries out for the ball to be smacked!Impact sound is solid and pleasant and there is a nice “ping” as the ball is launched on a medium-high trajectory.Distances are about average (shorter than strong hitting Ping G2 or TaylorMadeVsteel but longer than Callaway Steelhead models) and there is only minimal roll on landing. The ball is picked off the top nicely from fairway lies and because of the compact and heavy head ther is no problem in light-medium rough. This is not the most forgiving club, however, and mishits don’t travel far.Accuracy is good and this makes it a good ally on tight driving holes and long par 3’’s.

Value:£140 for a graphite club of this quality is superb.Resale value is hard to guage, but because of the lack of forgiveness and small head size it may have limited appeal.

Verdict:This is a pretty club with a pretty price tag.It performs well, but does not have the forgiveness that would help most mid-high handicappers, who will prefer the tried and trusted offerings from Callaway and TaylorMade.Low handicappers on a budget would be well advised to try this as an alternative to Titleist 980F,etc.
