King Cobra SS430 U 10 degree driver

Shaft:Cobra regular flex
Grip:Cobra

Looks:Cobra drivers of old have been a mixed bag in the looks department. The original Deep Face model was much admired and looked great for it’s time while the Gravity Back model was a pretty uninspired effort. This monster will win no beauty pagents. It has a huge black titanium head and a very deep face which sits a little closed (points to left) at address. The shaft and grip are high quality and marry very well cosmetically with the large lump of metal at the end.The overall club does not quite have the “turtle on a stick” look, but it is pretty hard not to be overawed by the size.
Marks:(out of 10) 6
Performance:The ball is dwarfed at address by the large head, which will fill the high handicapper with confidence while being a little disconcerting for the low shooter. An extra long (3”) tee is a must before attempting to hit this club. The impact sound is extremely loud and metallic and again the high handicapper will appreciate this most.Trajectory is high for a 10 degree and the ball flies for very fine yardage with very little roll on landing. The regular flex shaft is quite soft and will suit slower swing speeds best, although in comparison to proprietary shafts from such as Callaway it is good quality.Mishits from toe and heel fly well with little loss of distance or wild deviations left or right. This is a very forgiving club indeed. The slightly closed face makes this club ideally suited to slicers (ie.most of the golfing universe!) while shot shaping is extremely difficult due to closed face, large clubhead and soft shaft.

Value:£275 makes this extremely good value for a top name brand and it is significantly cheaper than many of it’s rivals.Resale value will probably be good as the club has wide appeal and has forged a good reputation.
Marks:8
Overall:This is a fine, competitively pticed driver that will be of most benefit to the high handicapper who will appreciate it’s length and forgiveness.Low handicappers may see benefits in lower lofts and stiffer shafts, but as a rule they will prefer Titleist and TaylorMade for their superior control.
